Why do we need oil or gas.
Oil and gas are integral components of daily life, providing energy for transportation, heating, and electricity. The importance of these resources in modern society cannot be overstated, as they power almost every aspect of daily life, from the cars we drive to the food we eat.
One of the most significant uses of oil and gas is in transportation. Cars, buses, trucks, and planes all rely heavily on these resources for fuel.
Finding oil and gas.
Oil is a thick oily liquid of dark color, with a pungent odor, flammable. Once in the water, it spreads like a thin film over its surface. Scientists believe that oil was formed from the remains of plants and animals that lived many millions of years ago.
During oil refining, liquid fuels (gasoline, kerosene, fuel oil), lubricating oils, plastics, fibers for fabric manufacture are obtained.
You already know that drilling rigs are being built and deep wells are being drilled for oil production. According to them, the oil first rises from the ground by itself, and then it is pumped out by powerful pumps
Natural gas is colorless, light (lighter than air), burns with a blue flame. According to scientists, it, like oil, was formed from the remains of plants and animals that once lived on the planet.
Natural gas is a very good fuel. It is used not only in everyday life, but also in power plants, boiler rooms, and factories. Plastics, fibers and other products are obtained from it at chemical industry enterprises
Part of the natural gas lies underground along with oil. This gas is like a traveling companion of oil, so it is called a passing gas. When extracting oil, associated gas is usually burned. This is very wasteful, because it can be used like ordinary natural gas.
Natural gas reserves in our country are large. But you can’t spend anything thoughtlessly. Natural gas needs to be saved both in production and in everyday life. Never leave a gas stove burning in vain!
How are oil and gas produced.
Things made with the participation of oil surround us everywhere. Let’s make a list of the most well-known oil products.
Petroleum products include fuels and lubricants — gasoline, kerosene, diesel, aviation and jet fuel, fuel oil, special oils, brake fluids and others.
Plastics of various properties. Food grade film, polyethylene.
Rubber and its substitutes.
Varnishes, paints, solvents, paraffin.
Medicines (aspirin, antibiotics, vaseline) also contain petroleum derivatives.
Plastic and soft toys, diapers, and nipples are available for children.
A group of unexpected products: food dyes, flavors, proteins, chewing gum, cosmetic products (lipstick, hair dye, shadows and pencils, perfumes and others).
